Monk buckets
May 21, 2005 Bangkok, Thailand

All Thai males become a monk at some point in their lives, even if only for a few days, because if brings merit to themselves and their families. Supermarkets all have handy “monk buckets,” containing everything a new monk could want: water, orange drink, toothpaste, soap, candles, matches, and more. Families can buy one of these and offer it to their monk at the temple.
